“Eungenio Salvador Dalí” is a vibrant and bold tribute to the iconic surrealist artist. In this work, I have used acrylic and spray on canvas to capture the eccentric essence and penetrating gaze of Dalí. The portrait, dominated by black and white, is interrupted by a bold red triangle that cuts across the composition, providing dramatic contrast and drawing attention to the master’s expressive eyes.
Inspired by the lyrics of Mecano’s “Eungenio Salvador Dalí”, Maseda captures the multifaceted essence of Dalí, where the realistic blends with the surreal, and the mundane meets the divine. This portrait not only honors the artist’s memory, but also reimagines his impact in a modern style, capturing Dalí’s duality as both genius and madman, his beauty compressed into his creative mind, and his enduring legacy in the art world.
